Suggestions for the 2018 VA Energy Plan

  • Efficient use of existing energy generation. Develop pumped hydroelectric storage facilities to store intermittent wind and solar power not fossil fuel, baseload generation. Construct them on brownfields, not greenfields?.
  • Place a moratorium on new fracked gas pipelines, because existing infrastructure already exceeds our energy needs?.
  • Eliminate the $20 million mining pool bond cap, so that funds will be there to clean up land previously mined for coal.? Support the AML and AML pilot programs that encourage rapid economic re-development in Virginia's energy-producing region.
  • Eliminate barriers to customer-owned and third-party financed solar power, this model has encouraged rapid job? creation in other states.
  • Encourage customer-owned battery storage? to reduce burdens on the electric grid and support rural Virginians.
