Concerns with proposal

I have worked with children in one way or another for 14 years, part of that was as an assistant teacher in a classroom. With these things in mind, please read and consider my below comments regarding the proposal.

The CPR First Aid Requirement for all teachers and aids to be certified is not needed as long as all staff are trained within a 90 day period and at least half of the staff is certified. This will still provided the needed care for the child needing the assistance as well as care for the rest of the students during this time. In addition it will relieve the stress on our care centers and still provide the children the care they need.

I object to requring staff under 18 to be supervised by other staff. This limits the use of employees that are needed in another room or could relieve co workers for a time period.  The younger employees are often very enthusiastic about playing with the children and pleasing the parents and more often than not are more reliable that someone who has worked 8+ hours with the children all day.

Regarding the Director Qualifications, I feel that this will exclude many applicants out of an already limited area. Experience should be taken into consideration.

Having to Ensure that each group of children receives care by consistent staff or team of staff members is at times not possible. While it should definatley be a goal, it is impossible to meet this standard all the time.

Keeping cleaning Products out of reach of children where they accessible, but not locked is reasonable and safe for the child, which is the goal. Cleaning and disinfecting are a large part of what we do to keep children safe and healthy.  Having to lock cleaning chemicals is a barrier to easy sanitation which is greatly needed for things like the flu and colds which can be easily be spread.

Please consider changing these items.

Sincerely,

Christine Young
