I am opposed to the non-licensed placement of IV catheters in veterinary practices. The argument that there are not enough LVT's in Virginia is not valid. If we continue to erode the advantages of LVT's in our practices then we will surely not have enough in the future. We already deal with non-LVT's administering vaccines and meds in humane society clinics with no exams or record-keeping. This would open the door for more of this kind of erosion of veterinary practice in the Commonwealth. Hire an LVT today and support the hard working kids who spend time and money investing in their education. I don't want non trained individuals doing their job.
