I oppose this regulatory action..

I am opposed to the blanket prohibition on concealed or open carry in state offices/buildings/facilities.

  • This action is apparently an arbitrary reaction to absolutely zero incidents.
  • This action does not support citizens' desire for life and liberty in that it inhibits legitimate self-defense.
  • This action does absolutely nothing to prevent criminals from acting with criminal intent but it does limit the actions of those who have been vetted, repeatedly in some cases, by the government and proven to be among the most law abiding of all citizens.
  • This action means that those who are legitimately carrying concealed or otherwise must secure their firearm in their transportation or elsewhere before entering facilities.  This leaves the firearm out of the control of those most qualified and legal to control them and makes those firearms vulnerable to theft and misuse.
  • This action means that citizens must effectively relinquish their right to self defense to avail themselves of government services.
  • This action was not voted on by the citizens of the Commonwealth or by their elected representatives.
  • This action is so broad as to apply to facilities where it would otherwise be expected to be armed.
  • This action negates benefits used to sell the concealed handgun permit.  Just as with the unjustified change in concealed handgun permit reciprocity agreements previously committed by the state, it steals benefits from those who had already paid for those benefits in good faith.
  • This action continues a trend to remove from the electorate any influence over the laws under which they must live through the use of "executive authority".  It is an anathema to liberty.

I am dismayed that it is more and more common in the Commonwealth of Virginia that the desires of the people are overlooked in favor of the agendas of the elite particularly those from out of state. I served my country 27½ years and it certainly was not in support of the suppression of liberty.
