Executive Order 50

I'm writing in support of Executive Order 50, banning firearms in Virginia executive buildings. I support this ban because, in my view, armed amateurs in public buildings constitute a worse threat than possible criminals or terrorists. Lawfully constituted, trained officers should be adequate to ensure the safety of occupants of these buildings. Armed amateurs introduce confusion and possible emotional instability into the picture and may threaten citizens engaged in their lawful business. As an eyewitness to the first domestic terrorist shooting, the incident at the University of Texas Tower in 1966, I believe that I have a right to speak with some insight on this issue. Thank you.
