I want to feel safe.

I consider myself a fairly average American and Virginian.  When I go out, I want to feel safe.  Towards that end, I check with security guards at places I frequent.  I ask what the gun policy is at that venue.  Most often, guns are forbidden at sports arenas, amusement parks, and resorts that I attend.  I would find it very upsetting to visit a state-affiliated site (probably on required government business)  and learn that guns were permitted. Allowing guns in such places would certainly make me feel unsafe.  I understand that gun owners have rights.  However, do not lose sight of the fact that Joe Q Public going about their law-abiding business, also have rights.   And one of those rights is the right to feel safe!
