Employees Should be able to defend themselves against Active Shooters

I work for Virginia, and would like to be able to do more than run, hide, or fight with whatever I happen to find handy.  Going against an armed assailant with a keyboard or pair of scissors is not wise.  Employees should be afforded the opportunity to defend themselves.  They have not only passed an empolyment background check, but would also have to pass the CCP check.  Will the Governors security detail be required to put down thier firearms upon entering an executive building?  I think not.  So the Governer will have security, but very few of his employees.  Sounds very elitist.
