I support this ban

We can no longer ignore the epidemic of gun violence in our country. We are all complicit in the massacres of thousands of innocent lives, if we continue refusing to act. The Second Amendment, created in a century when it took a full minute to re-load your single-shot musket, was in any case never intended to be a mandate against ANY and ALL common sense regulations of gun ownership. The Second Amendment will easily survive common sense regulation (just as Wall Street banks will easily survive the regulations (Dodd-Frank) that we sensibly imposed after the banks' reckless actions drove our economy to the brink of disaster and caused years of economic recession). Government must set an example by enforcing common sense gun regulations in government offices. We also should think of the welfare of our police officers and law enforcement officials -- and their families -- by ensuring that they are not out-gunned by the people who enter government buildings with an intent to do harm. Virginians, it's way past time for us to enact sensible rules like this one, rather than to allow the gun-fueled and NRA-fueled carnage to continue.
