I Oppose The Permanent Ban On Legally-Carried Firearms In State Buildings

The Legislature has the authority to pass firearms regulations, not the Governor. For political expediency, The Governor defied the will of the people by vetoing the Legislature's passed legislation that denied him the authority to mandate this restriction on firearms rights. Virginia CHP holders are a law-abiding group, as opposed to criminals with bad intentions who do not follow laws. Gun-free zones present targets of opportunity for those who do not obey the laws. The Emergency Ban on firearms in State Buildiings was a solution to a problem that has not existed in Virginia. Allowing a Permanent Ban to replace it would potentially endanger people's safety and would perpetuate an ineffective and unreasonable ordinance.
