VA women deserve best care; preserve strong regulations at abortion centers

Abortion center regulations are essential for the health and safety of Virginia women and I urge the Board of Health to maintain them - not weaken them.

The recent shutdown of a Fairfax abortion facility due to 26 health and safety violations proves these regulations are working. They must be preserved as is, not watered down. The abortion industry has fought regulation for years, yet repeatedly independent inspectors find serious deficiencies, even during announced inspections. Abortion centers are not able to self-regulate.

I don't believe abortion is healthcare (since it ends lives instead of healing them). However, I also believe that since Virginia considers abortion healthcare, the abortion centers it allows to operate must adhere to the health and safety regulatory standards of other healthcare facilities. I urge the Board of Health to consider what women really need, not what the lobbyists from the abortion industry say they need. Keep the regulations.
