I urge the board to amend TRAP as it currently stands. TRAP is a medically unnecessary overregulation of a specific type of medical procedure that is fueled more by religion than by science. Research has repeatedly shown that abortion is one of the safest medical procedures and experience has repeatedly shown what happens when we make it less accessible. A public health crisis such as we see in Texas is a real possibility in Virginia if TRAP is allowed to stand as written. Please don't play with women's lives. Amend TRAP to ensure access to safe abortion.
