Board of Health,
I have no idea why we keep going over this issue and over it again-abortion is a terrible tragedy all around but not protecting the health of the mothers going through this horrific procedure is negligence in the extreme-criminal, in fact. There are lots of news stories about the maiming and deaths of women as a result of botched abortions in filthy centers. This is a major surgical procedure and no hospital that did not follow safety and cleanliness stanards would be left standing and operating-in fact, charges would be brought against them. Why on earth is this any different"" Virginia likes to think of itself as a leader in this country and has a history of doing just that, since the pre-revolutionary war period-why not lead the nation in safety and health examples for women at one of the worst times in their lives. Its unconscionable, indeed unjustifiable to do any less. Barbara Rash
