Respect Women, Require Safety

Board of Health,

Regardless of political views on abortion, we should be able to agree that those seeking out a surgical procedure such as an abortion be afforded a high standard of medical care. This would include the insurance of sterile procedures, the licensure and background of physicians and staff (lost licenses and criminal background checks in other jurisdictions), and a hospital backup facility plan. If a mother cant have a midwife without a hospital backup, it is disparate care not to afford a woman seeking an abortion the same insurance. Additionally, if minors cant self administer an ibuprofen tablet at school, a system which would allow abortion without parental consent is rather schizoid. Wealthy women procure abortions in hospitals with private physicians. Clinics are already the lower rung of a two tiered system. Please maintain regulations that protect less wealthy women from grizzly facilities with second rate physicians, many of whom have been in trouble with medical boards. Mary Brett Esq.
