Uphold Standards, Protect Women

Board of Health,

I am urging your fine body not to pull back the regulations on the abortion clinics here in the State of Virginia. Women need to be able to trust that the places they go for health care are safe and will not add to their trauma at this time of an unplanned pregnancy. The regulations you have in place now have already shown serious violations of common health requirements other medical facilities have to meet. Is it really right to say that women who want an abortion should have second-rate facilities just because it is cheaper (translate: provides more profit for the operators of these abortion clinics)"Is it really alright for women to suffer if something goes wrong and no help can get to her because the facility is too small or too cramped or without good lighting" Past history has shown that shady operations stay shady unless government regulations shine light and expose the shadiness. These abortion clinics need the light to shine in their facilities so we can be sure women are treated well at this most vulnerable time in their lives. As a woman I want what to go where it is safe for me, not a place that is questionable. Please keep these regulations stringent and safe.I appreciate your serious consideration and careful attention to this most important matter. Carol McLaren
