Uphold Standards, Protect Women

Board of Health,

Thank you for considering this issue. We as Virginians believe that all people should be treated with dignity in medical facilities, based on the outstanding care provided at the many hospitals here in Virginia. Shouldnt the women seeking a medical procedure to terminate their pregnancy have the same consideration" While I do not agree with abortion, I do believe that women who make this choice still deserve the utmost care in this emotional moment. Their health and safety is vital in these moments, and by not requiring these clinics to maintain minimal health standards for a medical facility, we are putting these women, often young women, at risk. It is our duty as good citizens to protect these women at this time. These standards for cleanliness should be just that, standard. It is common sense to have basic requirements for all health facilities, yet this is being debated. As a human being, I expect and hope that these standards will be upheld, and these facilities be held accountable to them. Diane Francis
