A womans right to choose to have an abortion is supported by Planned Parenthood who maintain abortion centers and by the National Abortion Rights Action League (NARAL). What these organizations DO NOT SUPPORT are regulations that enable women who choose to have an abortion with the standard of care normally found in other medical surgery clinics and hospitals.If it were up to me, no abortions would be performed in any out patient clinic, they would all be performed in hospitals by trained medical personnel with the same requirements of any other surgeries. Abortions are not routine procedures and can be susceptible to complications and emergences as with any other surgery. At the very least, abortions should be performed for the women who choose to have them in facilities according to the abortion regulations previously passed by the General Assembly. The regulations will provide that abortions are performed by trained staff in clean facilities that meet basic health and safety standards. NO woman who chooses to have an abortion should expect or accept less. LJ LORD
