Uphold Standards, Protect Women

Board of Health,

Stricter health regulations are essential to the safety of women due to the abysmal record of the previously unregulated Virginia abortion industry. Our states Dept. of Health inspections discovered over 300 violations, including blood splattered exam tables and equipment, unsterilized equipment, poorly or untrained staff, violations of state parental consent laws, and the lack of reporting of possible cases of child sexual abuse. Abortionist Dr. Steven Brighams license to practice medicine has been revoked in five states because he didnt adequately ensure the safety of his female patients. NJs State Board of Medical Examiners revoked Brighams license and stated, "Dr. Brighams continued practice would present clear and imminent danger to the public health, safety, and welfare." Virginia health inspections found gaping holes in the ceiling of his abortion center, unsterilized needles, high complication rates, and incomplete lifesaving equipment. Dr. Brigham should be barred from operating any abortion centers in Virginia. His experience shows the dire need for the regulations to remain in place. Ryan Nichols
