Uphold Standards, Protect Women

Board of Health,

It seems to me that it is unconscionable to not have basic standards of health and safety enforced for abortion clinics. The action of abortion is invasive and complications can easily compromise the health of the women undergoing the abortion. Clinics responsible for performing abortions should be required to meet or exceed all standards of cleanliness and safety at all times to keep from jeopardizing the health and well-being of the women undergoing the operation. Public health history is rife with examples of how easy it is to spread diseases between women receiving birth-related treatments and operations because of the involvement of blood and other fluid flows during the procedures. The death of a woman or permanent damage to her from abortion or its complications should not be tolerated by society. If they are, it is no better than the back-alley abortion clinics of the past, and it must be remembered that those seeking abortions are much more numerous today than they were when abortions were not legal. It is imperative to maintain appropriate, high-level health practices to avoid severe impacts on women and the public health in general. Dont backtrack on the clinic requirements. CWRandall
