Uphold Standards, Protect Women

Board of Health,

Reasonable and equitable health standards that protect/promote the health of all individuals is the mission of the Virginia Board of Health. The policies of the board should never be influenced by institutional profit. More importantly, the Virginia Board of Health is bound in practice and in conscience to defend policies that enhance and broaden the barrier of protections afforded to individual patients. The current regulations for maintaining standards at abortion clinics are minimal at best. Especially in relation to the serious complications that could occur for women at the clinics. The procedures undertaken in these clinics is invasive and the only changes to be considered are those that are more stringent. I strongly remind the board that recent events have documented serious violations of these standards rather than compliance. I encourage the Virginia Board of Health to fight for individual patients by resisting pressure to erode current protections in light of obvious political motivations.Thank you, Glenn Bingham
