Uphold Standards, Protect Women

Board of Health,

In just two years, since the regulations were implemented inspections of abortion facilities have exposed widespread health and safety violations including blood splattered exam tables and equipment, unsterilized needles, incomplete lifesaving equipment, violations of Virginia parental consent laws, an absence of reporting of possible cases of child abuse, and many more deficiencies.abuse, and many more deficiencies. This is a direct assault on women. Anyone who chooses to have an abortion should be treated at well, and as safely, as anyone going to a dentist or an urgent care facility. This is not the situation found in many of the facilities currently offering abortions.Saying a review, and possible change, in the medical standards set for these facilities prevents health care for women is a very misdirected statement. I am sure our governor would not want to be treated for any medical problem is a dirty, unsanitary and outright dangerous medical facility. And yet he is willing to allow women to risk their safety, and maybe their lives, by lowering the standards for places offering abortions. This is outrageous. In the review of standards currently in place, please put yourself in the position of seeking medical care and finding the only facility available to you is one with the unsanitary, unsafe conditions found in the abortion centers in Virginia.Margaret Hobble Margaret Hobble
