Uphold Standards, Protect Women

Board of Health,

Women are still maimed, women still die since abortions were legalized. It’s just today they can go thru the front door instead of a back alley door before Roe v. Wade. Consider Gosnell. Consider LaKisha Wilson who died from a late term abortion at Preterm Abortion Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. Consider Amy Hagstrom Miller’s Beaumont, TX surgical facility that had a 17 page violation of serious infringements last year. And she owns a chain of abortion clinics spanning 3 states. Consider Georgia abortionist, Charles Rossman who pled guilty to a criminal abortion. Consider Indiana abortionist Ulrick Klopfer who has 1200 complaints filed against him and is standing trial for not reporting suspected child abuse after he gave a 13 year old girl an abortion. Consider Alabama abortionist Raymond Lopez who has been the subject of 14 court cases since 1996 - two of them criminal. These are not random accounts but a sampling reflective of the abortion industry practices. The abortion industry is cutting corners for profit sake creating dangerous environments for women. Cutting corners by not properly sterilizing instruments between each patient, using expired drugs, expired curettes, not having nurses on staff, using unqualified staff, using untrained staff, having inoperable cardiac defibrillators, not using gloves during injections, etc. You get the picture. Virginia has the opportunity to say – in our state, abortions will be safer because we care about women’s health above the abortion industries profits. The abortion industry clearly does not do a good enough job of self -regulating. Please do what you know deep down is the right thing to do. Cathy Tankersley
