Permanent Abortion Facility Regulations Help Protect Women's Health

I strongly support the current regulations on abortion centers approved overwhelmingly by the Board of Health.  These regulations should be made permanent because they constitute reasonable, common-sense measures to ensure the prevention of infections and the presence of life-saving equipment and clear written policies and building guidelines in abortion facilities.

Under the current regulations, health inspectors have documented numerous health and safety violations in abortion facilities so that most of the facilities have had to submit plans of correction in order to receive provisional licensure.  It is clear that the abortion industry cannot be relied upon to self-regulate and promote the standards of cleanliness and safety that are needed to protect women.
