CONSISTENT STANDARDS MUST BE ENFORCED

Abortion providers must be held to the same high level of medical standards that apply to all other areas of practice.  Too often the red herring of "protecting choice" is an excuse to water down or evade regulatory oversight and basic controls.  Unscrupulous abortion providers use this lack of oversight to take advantage of vulnerable women - providing them with shoddy, unsafe procedures that sometimes result in the death of the mother.  The current trial in Philadelphia provides a perfect example of this happening. If opponents of this regulation are truly concerned about "protecting women", they would support the enforcement of regulations and oversight that are consistent with medical oversight standards applied across other areas of the medical profession.   If they are opposed to having consistent, high standards for all medical services provided to women, then one must question their true motives.  Are they objecting because increased regulation would expose unscrupulous providers and possibly cut into their profit margins?
