I am writing to voice my opposition to the politically motivated TRAP law.  I think it is very disingenuous to pretend these regulations are about protecting women's health and safety when the same regulations do not apply to other out patient surgery centers.  Liposuction, for example, is far more dangerous but no similar "safety" regulations have been proposed to plastic surgery centers.  The changes needed to be made to the exisiting buildings are not about keeping women safe, their sole purpose is to shut down clinics providing abortions.  I believe that we are embarking on a slippery slope if we allow politicians to dictate decisions to be made by independent boards.  What is the purpose of having an independent board?  Additionally, allowing politicians to dictate medical practice is also extremely dangerous.  I believe the Board needs to seriously consider the impact of this decision because the flood gates will be open.  Do not back down due to fear and intimidation.
