Targeted Regulations Against Abortion Providers

My family and I are opposed to TRAP regulations because they are overly burdensome on clinics.  If Virginia truly cared about women's health they would regulate all outpatient clinics, yet unnecessary and potentially harmful cosmetic plastic surgery procedures, for example, are not covered.

My family and I oppose TRAP because restricting women's access to abortion will not prevent abortion but rather force low-income women to resort to dangerous 'back alley' abortions.   Closing clinics--which is the transparent goal of TRAP--does nothing to enhance the health of low-income residents of Virginia.

My family and I oppose TRAP because these regulations send a clear message that Virginia politicians care more about their extreme right-wing agenda than about the welfare of Virginia women.   Virginia politicians clearly do not trust women to make their own decisions regarding their own bodies.  Regardless of intent, any attempt to elevate the rights of an unborn child can only restrict the rights of that unborn child's mother.  TRAP sends a clear message that women in Virginia are second-class citizens.  As the mother of two daughters, I oppose this extremist effort to deny Virginia women the autonomy of their own minds and bodies.

In conclusion, I strongly urge that Virginia lawmakers leave women's reproductive choice in the hands of individual women and their medical providers.  TRAP needs to go the way of the dinosaurs.

Thank you for your time.
