|Action||Regulations for Licensure of Abortion Facilities|

I refuse to accept the proffered premise that abortion is health care because it ends lives rather than healing them. The existence of the abortion industry under the guise of “health care” is a sad and tragic reality in our Commonwealth and our country. I, however, strongly support the current regulations on abortion centers approved by the Board of Health. These should be made permanent and continue to include the strongest standards as they are reasonable, common-sense measures to ensure that life-saving equipment is on hand, infections are prevented, and clear written policies and building guidelines are in place. Please maintain strong permanent abortion facility regulations to protect the health and safety of women. It should be remembered that health inspectors documented multiple health and safety violations in the facilities and most of the facilities had to submit plans of correction in order to receive provisional licensure. This means the abortion industry cannot be relied upon to self-regulate and promote standards of cleanliness and safety in their facilities. Regulations are necessary to protect at least the born if we must continue to not to protect the unborn.
