It is perfectly clear to anyone who studies the people promoting these limitations that they are doing so out of an abundance of religious opinion. 

Let's make that clear, the positions that are informing their actions are based on religious opinion and have no place in public discourse simply by virtue of the fact that the rest of us do not have access to their particular standards and spheres of religious knowledge.

The rest of society only has access to shared knowledge based on sound science bought with hard won effort.  Only rules based on those foundations are legitimate for use to craft public policy.
