Strongly Opposed

To whom it may concern, As a board certified ophthalmologist for 21 years, I strongly oppose this proposal. Performing laser surgery is part of a comprehensive training program which includes 4 years of medical school and four years of ophthalmology residency.  There are no safe shortcuts. An optometrist who seems to perform these procedures must go to medical school for an MD and four years of ophthalmology residency to fully understand the use of these lasers in the treatment of eye diseases such as glaucoma.  Thank you for your time.
