The current accountability system covers up massive inequities in students' education in Virginia. Wealthy school divisions do a poor job educating students, but maintain their sterling reputation because parents buy tutoring and other enrichment. Meanwhile, the families living in poverty fall through the cracks. The new system counts many more students, and it will shine a light on where the problems really are.
