Proposed regulations affecting women's health care in Virginia

To whom it may concern:

I am deeply disturbed by targeting of women's health centers which provide abortion.  This is still a legal right, and without access to exercise this right, women in Virginia may be forced to make riskier choices about how to terminate an unwanted pregnancy.

The high standard of care provided by women's health centers is proven by their impressive safety record. Abortion is one of the safest medical procedures. Overregulation will limit access to a wide range of preventive reproductive health care services provided by women's health clinics, including life-saving cancer screenings, family planning, and sexually transmitted infection testing and treatment.

As a registered nurse, as a woman, and as a voter in this state, I request that science be the guide in these decisions, not politics.

Sincerely,

Cali Gaston, RN, MAc, LAc
