Women's Health means Clean, Regulated and Inspected Facilities

The health of women is at stake, and Virginia should not allow fly-by-night, unprofessional and scandalous abortion providers to operate.  Cases last year in Maryland show how awful these "practitioners" truly are.  The Gosnell case and similar cases in other states show how porr clinic regulations and lack of inspection threatens the life, health and safety of unsuspecting women.  They are going to clinics because they are poor or underage; too often they suffer from infections, complications and even death at the hands of practitioners who flaunt their violations of any local or other regulations and safety codes in the absence of inspections.

  • The current regulations are reasonable, common sense measures to ensure that life-saving equipment is on hand, infections are prevented, and that clear written policies and building guidelines are in place.  They were proposed by medical experts at the Department of Health and were approved 12-1 by the Board of Health.
  • Virginia's abortion centers must be licensed, regulated, and inspected to protect women’s health and safety.
  • INSPECTIONS are key.  Regulation with no inspection regimen is pure hypocrisy.
