I am originally from a country where abortion in punishable by law, with 1 to 3 years in jail for the women who get them. This has led my country to have one of the highest maternal mortality rates in latin america (almost 200,000 women per year), one quarter of these deaths being the result of an illegal or botched abortion. 

Denying women the access to a legal medical procedure that is their constitutional right in the United States through unnecessary regulations could lead many of these women to resort to backalley, botched abortions, and put their lives at risk in the process. It also denies them theit basic right to bodily autonomy, puts the government unnecesarily in the room between a patient and their doctor, and denies women the right to a dignified life.
