I have confidence in the trained educators in the public schools to know what is age appropriate for their students and I want children to learn about gender, sexual identity and sexuality in a supportive and non-judgmental atmosphere. By restricting age appropriate information we are enhancing misinformation and discrimination, while possibly fostering sexual harassment and sexual violence. Just because a minor learns about others who are not like them doesn't mean they are going to turn into something they are not. The most important factor in a child's development is genetics and the home environment. There is no more powerful model than a child's parent - so I would not be concerned about age appropriate subjects that the child learns in school. It is much more harmful to restrict or censor the information and demean the judgement of our trained educators.
