OPPOSE proposed Virginia Department of Education Model Polices for Sexually Explicit Materials

I oppose the policy proposed by the Virginia Department of Education that would notify parents of any sexually explicit materials assigned in their child’s class.  As a native Virginian who attended its public schools and sent our child through the same school system, I regard this proposal a move backward, censoring thought and expression for all students in the state.  Education must broaden individuals to different ideas and viewpoints, bettering their understanding of themselves and the world in which they live.
