Trust our educators!

I am extremely opposed to SB 656 as it increases the burden on teachers and librarians. Our educators are trained to choose appropriate material and know how to help children navigate difficult subjects in age-appropriate ways. Parents are, of course, welcome to contextualize those subjects in whatever way they wish in the home

This bill puts more unnecessary work on teachers, who are highly-educated professionals who know and understand how to create appropriate programming for their students. This bill muddies the waters using imprecise and confusing language, which will create more work for educators and push more individuals out of this critical field.
