Guidance Document Change: In 2021, the Virginia General Assembly passed House Bill 1904 and Senate Bill 1196, and was signed into law by Governor Northam. The law establishes new requirements to support culturally competent educators in the Commonwealth. The Guidance on Cultural Competency Training for Teachers and Other Licensed School Board Employees in Virginia Public Schools was developed for the Board to fulfill the statutory mandate to provide guidance on the minimum standards for the local training requirement.

Yes to the requirements

I agree with the standards and am so sorry to see the negative comments about the standards.  Why are people calling it CRT?  Why do people label information that they do not understand with misinformation.  Based on the comments VFOE should educate the public on what the standard is not.  This is so sad seeing people one with a term and use it with out knowing.  Look at all the comments that are quick to use the race word yet day talks of race must cease yet it is used repeatedly. It would be so sad to see the new administration fall for the negative talk knowing full well CRT is not taught in our schools.  Why are we afraid to talk about culture.  After seeing the hate in Charlottesville we all know it is better to acknowledge there is a problem.  The tone of some of the posts are hostile and angry.  It would be nice to see adults just simply voice an opinion wiouding the words racist and divisive.  One day when we say that all men are created equal there will be peace and solidarity.
