Guidance Document Change: In 2021, the Virginia General Assembly passed House Bill 1904 and Senate Bill 1196, and was signed into law by Governor Northam. The law establishes new requirements to support culturally competent educators in the Commonwealth. The Guidance on Cultural Competency Training for Teachers and Other Licensed School Board Employees in Virginia Public Schools was developed for the Board to fulfill the statutory mandate to provide guidance on the minimum standards for the local training requirement.

Yes, creative teaching includes reaching everyone in the classroom

Our educators do an excellent job in teaching many courses.  However, to teach courses realizing the classroom is made up of a number of backgrounds, farmers, deep south, the north, the first Americans, poor, wealthy, etc. I read each of the reviews and saw a number of people just went back and said the said thing someone else said about the standards.  If not, we not continue to see the word CRT.  Using the word CRT is political and a talking point.  The standard does not talk about hate or victims.  Perhaps we should have a learning session for those who do not understand where you listen and speak with respect.  If we knew culture or respect the comments would be written with your opinion and not with attacks. At least post like you care about the students and not trying to push a talking point.
