Guidance Document Change: In 2021, the Virginia General Assembly passed House Bill 1904 and Senate Bill 1196, and was signed into law by Governor Northam. The law establishes new requirements to support culturally competent educators in the Commonwealth. The Guidance on Cultural Competency Training for Teachers and Other Licensed School Board Employees in Virginia Public Schools was developed for the Board to fulfill the statutory mandate to provide guidance on the minimum standards for the local training requirement.

CRT training

I am wondering what standard does this help the students master. Is there a VA standard that has been approved for instruction which the teaching of Critical Race Theory would help the students to master a skill/standard? Will it be taught as a "theory" like the Darwin "theory of evolution" is taught in the science classes or will it be taught as fact? Are we now in the business of teaching our students lies or confusing them with a historical theory? This is time consuming and takes away from much-needed and valuable teaching/instruction in the classroom.
