Guidance Document Change: In 2021, the Virginia General Assembly passed House Bill 1904 and Senate Bill 1196, and was signed into law by Governor Northam. The law establishes new requirements to support culturally competent educators in the Commonwealth. The Guidance on Cultural Competency Training for Teachers and Other Licensed School Board Employees in Virginia Public Schools was developed for the Board to fulfill the statutory mandate to provide guidance on the minimum standards for the local training requirement.

The solution is simple: be respectful of all people

This initiative and anything that smacks of CRT is overcomplicating what everyone wants.  The goal is to respect ALL people, regardless of faith, race, ethnicity, gender, etc.  So, simply teach respect...respect for persons, respect for authority, respect for differing beliefs, etc.  There is no need to couch everything in political rhetoric or to use progressive pro-words that do nothing but incite fear and anger.  We don't need CRT; we simply need to return to a set of commonsensical values.
