Respect Freedom of Choice

Forcing people into a specific medical choice should never be acceptable, but forcing people into a medical choice which could result in harm to them is unethical. The CDC reports the risk of, among other adverse reactions, Guillain-Barré Syndrome and Myocarditis after COVID-19 vaccination. Because the vaccine has been deadly to some and harmful to many in the same way that the disease from which it is to protect us has been deadly to some and harmful to some, the choice to be vaccinated or not should remain a free choice. We should all remain free to choose to accept one risk or the other and not be forced to choose both risks at once, knowing that the vaccinated can still get COVID-19. There is no guaranteed safety with or without the vaccine, but no one should be forced to take a medical route they did not freely choose. Regardless of the severity of the risk, our autonomy, our humanity, should be respected and protected.
