Goals of Regulation | Regulations to implement the physician assistant scholarship program are essential to address the shortage of trained medical professionals in the Commonwealth. The regulations will help to increase the availability of adequate, quality medical care. The physician assistant scholarship program will address the workforce shortage by providing financial assistance for education expenses for individuals who intend to enter an accredited physician assistant program in designated schools. Decreasing the workforce shortage of trained medical professionals in the Commonwealth helps protect the health of Virginians by increasing primary care services to underserved areas and populations. |
