To accept supervised hours of a practicum and internship in a CACREP accredited doctoral program towards the required hours for a residency in counseling.
 Agency Plan
In accordance with Virginia law, the petition will be filed with the Register of Regulations and published on April 3, 2017with comment requested until May 3, 2017.  It will also be placed on the Virginia Regulatory Townhall and available for comments to be posted electronically.  At its first meeting following the close of comment, scheduled for May 19, 2017, the Board will consider the request to amend regulations and all comment received in support or opposition.  The requester will be informed of the board's response and any action it approves.

At its meeting on May 19, 2017, the Board discussed the request to amend regulations and all comment received.  The Board has voted to submit a Notice of Intended Regulatory Action (NOIRA) to initiate rulemaking and receive further information and comment.  Once the NOIRA is approved by the Governor, it will be published and a 30-day comment period will be opened. The regulatory process typically takes 18 months to complete.
