General Public:

During the 2025 General Assembly Session, the legislature passed, and the Governor approved, HB 2195 (Chapter 251 of the 2025 Acts of Assembly). The legislation tasks the Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR) with studying the mold inspection and mold remediation workforce. As part of this study, the DPOR is soliciting feedback from those in the general public that have previously interacted with professional services to inspect, assess, or remediate mold.

For those previously using such services, DPOR is interested in learning the following:

  • Whether the property where the mold problem occurred was rented or owned by the occupants?
  • If the property was owned, please provide details of (i) the mold issue, (ii) the resources utilized to secure a mold inspector and/or mold remediation company, (iii) the outcome, and (iv) positive and negative aspects of the experience.
  • If the property was rented, please provide details of the mold issue and how the landlord responded to the mold complaint. Was an inspector or remediation company hired to address the problem or did the landlord or maintenance team attempt to address the issue? What was the outcome? What were the positive and negative aspects of the overall experience?
