Title: Virginia Floodplain Management Standards for State-Owned Property

Authority: §10.1-603 of the Code of Virginia

Effective Date: December 3, 2025

Purpose of Document: The Virginia Floodplain Management Standards have been finalized and available for download. All applicable state agencies must adhere to these standards when planning or conducting development in designated floodplain areas, effective December 3, 2025. 

 

Public Comment Period: The Department is accepting public comment until November 14, 2025. The document may be accessed at Floodplain Management Regulations and Ordinances (virginia.gov) or by email request to floodplainMgmt@dcr.virginia.gov.
