The Department of Taxation has released Guidelines and Rules for the Energy Star and WaterSense Sales Tax Holiday, which are applicable to the holiday event taking place in 2013 and subsequent years. The holiday is a recurring event, beginning on the Friday before the second Monday in October of every year and ending at midnight on the Monday immediately following. Specified Energy Star and WaterSense products qualify for exemption from the Retail Sales and Use Tax during this time. The Guidelines reflect the recent rate increases as a result of legislation enacted during the 2013 General Assembly session. |
