This Model Policy creates risk for targeted religious discrimination against people of faith and people who because of their firmly held religious beliefs cannot comply with the mandated use of gender preference pronouns. This sets schools up for lawsuits.
This Model Policy normalizes and mainstreams gender dysphoria in the name of political correctness. Peer reviewed studies show that children at this age are very susceptible to peer pressure and to taking on the struggles of their peers including in the area of gender dysphoria. (This article is an excellent example: https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0202330). School should be a place of structure and learning -- free from politically driven distractions -- not a place for questioning or exploring gender identity. This policy was crafted to broadcast political correctness and not to work for any child's best interest. Everyone agrees children should have a caring and kind school experience, but creating that type of environment is not what this policy was designed to do.
