Dry needling comes from acupuncture. It comes from ancient Traditional Chinese Medicine. To say dry needling is not acupuncture is equivalent to stealing a sandwich and saying "this is slices of meat and some vegetables between two pieces of bread. It is not a sandwich." We support Physical Therapists to use acupuncture techniques to treat patients and help people. We just ask people not to steal it from something else and fail to acknowledge the source. Dry needling is acupuncture and physical therapists are welcome to practice after they receive adequate, standard training in acupuncture.
