In reading other comments, I see that there are many comments by other medical professionals that support the use of dry needling by PT's with limited training in these traditional Chinese Medicine techniques. If these same professionals feel so strongly about the techniques of using needling techniques, then I am confused as to why they would not hire or refer to those professional fully trained in acupuncture traditions and licensed in Chinese Medicine to perform these useful approaches. Blurring the lines between professions is a dangerous precedent which could lead to patient danger and inter-professional animosity. I would even think most Physical Therapists would be in agreement that this is an inappropriate professional move.
