Disarming good citizens (who are the only ones likely to obey the prohibition) does not make them safer. Better results will be obtained by firmer laws governing the way that people with psycological problems can be regulated. Many of the problems caused by guns were not caused by the guns, but by the mentally deficient people who had obtained the gun. For example, the student who comitted the murders at Virginia Tech had known mental problems that had been identified in court. Yet, the court took no action, and he was allowed to purchase a gun. Another young man had known mental problems; yet, his mother provided him with a gun and taught him to shoot. He shot and killed her and then killed several other people. The government needs to work on mental issues and terrorism issues, the cause of the problem, and not pass a bunch of laws that punish good citizens.
