The TRAP proposed regulations are a medical hazard.  They threaten the continued availability of safe, legal first-trimester abortion and preventive reproductive health care in multiple locations throughout the state.  I cannot believe the extensive and burdensome requirements that have been imposed on clinic buildings (but not regular doctor offices???) that are completely unrelated to any services health centers provide, and have no proven medical benefit.  

Instead, they will reduce or eliminate patient access to health care for many.  The financial hurdles imposed on health care for patients will be increased, with no proven medical benefit to patients.  Women, especially those in low income brackets, need more access to affordable, high quality health care, not less.  To take it away is immoral, unethical, and frankly violates most fundamental tenets of the religions our legislators claim to respect or follow.  Marginalizing our youth, those on low incomes, and minorities is not acceptable.

As a citizen I insist that any regulations placed on women's health centers be based upon *evidence-based* medical practices which advance the public health.  This will permit women in our Commonwealth to maintain access to vital health care from trusted medical providers.

One only has to look at the safety record of these women's health centers to confirm the The high standard of care they provide.  Abortion is one of the safest medical procedures, and this chronic uber-regulation will limit access to a wide range of preventive reproductive health care services provided by women's health clinics, including life-saving cancer screenings, family planning, and sexually transmitted infection testing and treatment.

I wish the regulations to be drawn back, reconsidered, with true democratic input from the people, the medical and scientific communities, and get the partisan politics once and for all out of the examining room.  Our Virginia politicians have failed us by permitting this travesty of a regulation to proceed as far as it has.
